The Diploma in Comparative Social Sciences

The Diploma in Comparative Social Sciences at Usul Academy is a rigorous university-level holistic education course of study. It is a broad-based liberal arts program that brings Islam into dialogue with the modern world with the aim of building the knowledge base of young Muslim scholars in the social sciences while encouraging them to be critical and inquisitive about the world around them.

Required Documents

Below are the documents needed to apply:

  1. Your most recent transcript (student copies are accepted).

  2. A Personal Statement: Your Statement of Purpose is not limited to, but should address, the following three questions:

    a. What are your main motivations for choosing this program?

    b. What do you hope to get out of the program?

    c. How does the program fit into your life goals?

  3. Your CV.

  4. A picture of yourself.

  5. Names and e-mails of 2 referees. Referees can include teachers, professors, supervisors, mentors, shuyukh, etc.

Candidate requirements

Below are the requirements for candidates to be eligible for the Diploma in Comparative Social Sciences:

  1. Candidates must have a BA degree or must be currently enrolled in a BA program (at any regular university) OR equivalent such manhaj shar’i, dar-ul ulum, traditional madrasah, etc.

  2. Students must show proof of English proficiency, either by being previously educated in an English-speaking institution or by submitting a certificate such as TOEFL.

  • Please note that Usul Academy’s scholarship funds are limited and only students who prove to be in real financial need will be eligible for financial assistance. Students with Islamic Studies background will be prioritized for financial aid.
